The study of rainfall composition in Lucknow during 1982, has shown that around 4.1 kg/ba K, 13.6 kg/ha Ca & 7.8 kg/ha NO3 ions were brought down. Apart from these 0.29 kg/ha of iron, 0.11 kg/ha Zn and 0.03 kg/ha Mn ions were also brought down. Although these amounts are still small in relation to the overall nutrient requirements of plants, these are by no means insignificant, ions, the concentrations of other constituents were normally lower that the limits prescribed for protable water or for fresh water biota.
