Abstract

An attempt has been made to evolve a simple method for advance assessment of  areal rainfall semiquantitatively for Gomti river catchment in Uttar Pradesh. Different types of synoptic situations are correlated with their resulting rainstorms over the catchment to prepare synoptic analogues for forecast range of areal rainfall. The method can be used in day to day forecasting with reasonable accuracy.
