Finite mixture of extreme value distribution For rainfall frequency analysis

Abstract

A mixture or EV1 and EV1 distributions has been tried for the frequency analysis of 24- hourly maximum rain all series (70 years} at Bhuj containing 3-4 outliers. In a second case, study, a mixture EV1 and EV1 I.S used to describe extreme rainfall (58 years) of Dinhata. A finite mixture of EV distributions provides a better fit in all those cases where EV1 alone over or under estimates return period values.
