Automatic reception and recording of telemetering raingauge data is achieved by simply switching on the receiver and tape recorder just before the scheduled times of transmissions and switching them off later. The keyed continuous wave data in teleprinter code is converted to highs or lows corresponding to long or short notes and stored in a shift register. The printing control circuit, after enabling the teleprinter functions to be performed, shifts out the data in the register at 50 bauds to get a print out.
