The spatial distribution of epcentres of earthquakes occurring in the region for the past ten years, shows that the region under study has special characteristics. The Hindukush region, in the particular, shows a cluster of epcentres having intermediate depths, particularly events having foci at depths between 200 & 250 km and thereby forming more or less a V-shaped region making an angle with the vertical. Bringing a homogeneity in magnitude data from different sources, recurrence curves for the regions have been drawn and interpreted.
