In order to find out the net terrestrial flux FN at any time on a cloudless winter night. Angstorm pyrgeometer observations are used to find the values of constants of an empirical formula. On comparing estimated values with the actual observations efficacy of the method was found to be very good.
FN has been assumed here to be a function of surface temperature (T) and vapour pressure (e) only. Effect of these elements on FN and the downward flux Fd as well as variation of FN, Fd with the above elements during night is briefly discussed.
