The details of radar echoes at reduced gain settings of severe convective storms have been studied with the help of 3 cm Selenia radar. Instances of the appearance of protuberance like 'Finger’ and 'Hook' shape echoes associated with squall line types of severe thunderstorms have been discussed and reported. The study showed that it is not necessary that hail or tornado should always occur with severe thunderstorms when these special echo features are seen.
