Intensification and landfall of tropical cyclone in Bay Of Bengal, 22-25 May 1985

The tropical cyclone analysis technique developed by Dvorak was used on an experimental basis for estimating the intensity of 22-25 May 1985 Bay of Bengal cyclone utilizing for the first time the Enhanced Infra-red (EIR) hourly pictures received from INSAT-IB. A technique to predict 'Threat Zone' for coastal areas affected by cyclones has also been developed.
