Abstract

From the satellite cloud pictures received at APT Unit, Bombay, the day-to-day cloud cover was determined for 2½ degree grids over the Arabian Sea during July and August for the three year period 1967-1969, Based on these data. charts showing the mean cloud cover over the Arabian Sea and the adjoining equatorial region and the percentage frequencies of occasions of 0.2 okta and 6-8 okta cloudiness for July and August are presented. Mean cloud cover over the same area during typical break monsoon and strong/normal monsoon conditions over India is also discussed.
