The frequencies of the storms/depressions that occurred in the Bay of Bengal in the period 1890-1969 have been analysed for the nature of the frequency distribution, for the annual and for the four standard seasons. The decade means for the annual, monsoon and post monsoon seasons have been presented and tested for its differences from the long term average and cycles interpreted. The persistency in the yearly frequencies has been analysed using lag correlations upto 10. The general trend in the series is examined by fitting orthogonal polynomials upto sixth degree. The periodicities in the data series have been detected applying power spectrum analysis technique.
