Abstract

The study was conducted to analyze the usability of medium range weather forecast in Jalandhar district of Punjab and economic impact on wheat. In this context, qualitative and quantitative analysis of medium range weather forecast (MRWF) was done for the rainfall over the actual data. Thereupon, to study the economic impact of Agromet Advisory Services (AAS), prepared on the basis of MRWF, on wheat; an experiment was conducted during rabi 2020-21 at PAU, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Jalandhar. The results of the study stated that the usability of rainfall which was more than 80 per cent during post-monsoon, winter and Rabi. Further, the economic impact varies from Rs. 2324 to Rs. 3142 economic gain to the adopted AAS over non- adopted AAS for wheat. This profit was due to the crop management done according to agromet advisory bulletins. Thus, the application of agromet advisory bulletin, based on current and forecast weather is a useful tool for enhancing the production and income.
