The paper describes a frequency converter developed in the laboratories of the India Meteorological Department at New Delhi. Its usefulness is in the new audiomodulated radiosonde system recently introduced by the Department. Basically, the instrument works on magnetic frequency detector principle and is capable of handing meteorological information being telemetered as pulse signals at repetition rates of 10to 200 cps. Its output is a direct current voltage linearly proportional to frequency and is suitable for being applied to and recorded on a potentiometer type strip chart recorder.
