Abstract

. Production rates of atomic oxygen ions in the metastable states (2P and 2D) by photo-ionization have been calculated, Equilibrium distributions of these species have been calculated using recently measured rate-coefficients of ion-atom interchange and other ionic reactions.  Finally, the zenith intensity of the (7318.6- 733OA) multiple of O+in the dayglow has been calculated and found to be approximately in the range 4.5-8.
