Abstract

A study has been made of large, and often abrupt, changes occurring from one day to another in the moisture content of air at 700-mb level over Gangetic West Bengal, as shown by radiosonde observations at Calcutta. The possibilities of utilizing this feature as an additional helpful criterion for foreshadowing detailed character of rainfall over the area during the monsoon season have been examined, and are discussed in the paper.
