Large scale convection over central parts of India in relation to 'Sub Tropical Jet Stream Wave'

Large scale convection over central parts of India during 17-19 February 1962 was found to be associated with strong upper tropospheric divergence in a sinusoidal type of 'Sub- Tropical Jet Stream Wave', augmented by the southeastward movement of' Jet Maximum' from central India to coastal Andhra Pradesh. Mean sea level situations or lower tropospheric flow patterns alone did not give conclusive or significant clue to subsequent large scale convective developments.
